Job Summary:
The Medication Prior Authorization Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring timely access to prescribed medications by managing the prior authorization process. This includes initiating and tracking requests through systems like CoverMyMeds and EPIC, gathering and verifying clinical documentation, and communicating with providers, insurers, and patients.

• Gather and verify information: They collect relevant clinical data, such as patient diagnoses, medical history, and prior medications tried, to support the prior authorization request. –
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and medication management:
• Understanding various medications, drug dosing and calculation.
• Excellent communication skills: They need to effectively communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
• Attention to detail and multitask skills: Accuracy and thoroughness are essential for ensuring timely and efficient prior authorization processes.
